Clinical Laboratory Specimen Transport

Documented specimen handoffs for laboratories and collection sites in six Downriver Detroit and Detroit metro cities. Dispatch answers 24/7.

A specimen run is not just a delivery. It is a documented chain of events between the moment a sample leaves a collection point and the moment it is handed over at the laboratory, with a recorded time and location at each step. Speed matters, but the record is what lets the receiving lab rely on what it was handed.

We move clinical specimens for laboratories, draw sites, physician offices and clinics in Melvindale, Dearborn, Taylor, Allen Park, Southgate and Wyandotte, twenty-four hours a day.

What a Specimen Run Actually Involves

Most courier problems in laboratory work are not driving problems. They are documentation problems: a sample that arrives without a clean handoff record, a pickup nobody can timestamp, a question three days later about which site sent what.

Every run is built so those questions have an answer:

  • Documented pickup. The pickup is recorded as a custody event, not a wave from the door.
  • Chain-of-custody events. Each handoff is logged with a time, so the order's path can be reconstructed from pickup to delivery.
  • Photo-based delivery evidence. The courier captures a photo at the delivery location when the package is handed over.
  • Retained records. Status, custody events, the downloadable proof of delivery and billing history are visible to authorized staff in the client portal.

Temperature and Packaging

Specimens are prepared and sealed by the laboratory or collection site. Our job is to carry that sealed packaging intact, hand it over without opening it, and record when it was picked up and delivered, so the receiving lab can make its own stability assessment against real timestamps rather than an estimate.

We do not assume every specimen type or temperature requirement can be accommodated. Tell dispatch the packaging and transport requirements before booking; a run is accepted only once those needs have been confirmed with you.

How a Run Is Set Up

  1. You tell us the pickup location, the receiving laboratory, your collection windows and your packaging requirements.
  2. Dispatch reviews the request and confirms which pickups and windows it can accept.
  3. We run it, and custody events are recorded as they happen.
  4. You see status and the proof of delivery in the portal, and billing follows the completed order under your agreed pricing.

Each portal order has one pickup location. If you need specimens collected from several draw sites, those collections are arranged as separate orders, each with its own record. Recurring routes suit laboratories with regular draw-site traffic; on-demand runs suit collection points that cannot predict volume.

24/7, and What STAT Means Here

STAT is not a faster version of the next scheduled run. It is a separate dispatch request made when you call. If a specimen cannot wait for the morning route, call (313) 978-0496 at any hour, including overnight, weekends and holidays, and discuss the pickup with dispatch. See our 24/7 STAT medical courier page for how urgent requests work.

Coverage

Melvindale, Dearborn, Taylor, Allen Park, Southgate and Wyandotte, with no excluded areas within those six cities. By our own estimate each is roughly fifteen minutes' drive from the Melvindale base; that is a planning figure, not an arrival guarantee. We do not run routes outside these six cities or outstate Michigan routes.

What to Ask Any Specimen Courier, Including Us

  • Can you show the custody record for a specific order, not just the route?
  • Does each delivery location get its own evidence, or does one record cover the day?
  • What happens to the record when a pickup is refused or delayed?
  • Who answers the phone at 2 a.m.?

Our answers: custody events are recorded per order, each delivery location gets its own photo evidence, exceptions stay visible in the record rather than being overwritten, and dispatch answers 24/7.
